Cross-Platform Generative Agent Migration
نویسندگان
چکیده
In current agent systems agent migration is only possible between homogeneous systems supporting identical agent platforms, limiting an agent’s possibilities considerably. This paper revisits the notion of generative migration. Generative migration entails migration of an agent blueprint, instead of complete code. This approach relies on homogeneity of libraries on different platforms to re-incarnate agents, but does not require homogeneity of platforms. Agent Factories are used to assemble agents at their destination, adapting an agent to its environment. This paper continues earlier work on generative migration by extending available theory and providing a demonstration and implementation of generative cross-platform agent migration using Agent Factories.

Generative Mobile Agent Migration in Heterogeneous Environments
Agent migration, in theory, makes it possible to bring computations to the resources required. In practice, however, homogeneity in programming language and/or agent platform is required. This paper presents an approach that supports heterogeneous agents and platforms: agents written in different languages can migrate between non-identical platforms. Instead of migrating the “code” (including d...
متن کاملGenerative Agent Migration in Heterogeneous Environments
Agents on the Internet sometimes need to migrate between Internet locations to perform their tasks. However, migration is often complicated by the heterogeneous nature of the Internet. For example, an agent's destination may not offer a compatible agent platform. Different solutions for migration are possible. This thesis concerns one such solution, called generative agent migration. Instead of...
متن کاملMobile-C: a mobile agent platform for mobile C/C++ agents
This article presents the design, implementation and application of Mobile-C, an IEEE Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) compliant agent platform for mobile C/C++ agents. IEEE FIPA standards are a set of specifications designed to ensure the interoperation between agents in a heterogeneous network. Mobile-C conforms to the FIPA standards both at agent and platform level. Mobile-C...
متن کاملBest Target Platform for Application Migration
This paper aims on finding common key factors between different platforms that must be considered in cross-platform application migration and the assigning of weight to each of individual factors. These are achieved through two surveys. This paper will propose a standard method /.for compatibility ratio measurement regarding the origin/source and destination platforms to help system administrat...
متن کاملComparative Efficiency and Implementation Issues of Itinerant Agent Language on Different Agent Platforms
An itinerary scripting language provides a tool to accelerate the development of mobile agent applications. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss research challenges of itinerant mobile agents (ITAG) and describe the migration of ITAG to JADE, the popular FIPA-compliant agent platform. The migration process was based on two major steps: the migration of agent communications and agent tas...
